Cargo Delivery from Italy to Ukraine
ETS moves cargo from Italy to Ukraine on groupage and dedicated trucks: from a single euro pallet of 100 kg up to a full 22-tonne tilt. We collect the cargo directly at the sender’s warehouse, and trucks leave Italy every week. Groupage runs from 4–5 days, a dedicated truck from 2–3.
We work the reverse direction too: from Ukraine to Italy we carry general, temperature-controlled and dangerous goods.

How the cargo travels: route and transit times
Italy is a road route: the cargo travels by direct road delivery, with no sea leg and no transhipment at a port. We collect it straight from the sender’s warehouse. ETS keeps no consolidation warehouse of its own in Italy, so your consignment does not wait at someone else’s terminal for a truck to fill up.
We load most often in Verona, Milan, Turin, Venice, the Florence area and Naples. Trucks to Ukraine depart every week.
Transit times
| Format | Transit time | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Groupage (LTL) | from 4–5 days | Collected at the sender’s warehouse, weekly departures |
| Dedicated truck (FTL) | from 2–3 days | Direct delivery, no part-loading and no transhipment |
Transit times are counted from loading. Add the time needed to agree the shipment with your supplier and to clear customs.
Groupage (LTL)
From one euro pallet 120×80 of 100 kg. You pay only for your own volume, and trucks leave Italy every week. Transit from 4–5 days.
Dedicated truck (FTL)
A 22-tonne tilt for your consignment alone, with no part-loading. From 2–3 days, because there is no consolidation and no transhipment on the way.
Refrigerated transport
Temperature control for food and temperature-sensitive cargo. Available in both directions — on imports and on exports.
Dangerous goods (ADR)
Trucks with ADR approval and drivers holding the matching certification. Italy to Ukraine and the other way round.

Cargo delivery from Italy: how it actually works
Italy is a direct road route. Unlike China or the USA, there is no sea leg, no port of transhipment and no transfer from a container onto a truck. The cargo travels on one vehicle from the sender’s warehouse in Italy to the consignee’s warehouse in Ukraine, which is why transit here is counted in days rather than weeks.
We keep no consolidation warehouse of our own in Italy and collect the cargo directly from the sender. For the client that means one important thing: your consignment does not sit at a third-party terminal waiting for a truck to fill up. Trucks to Ukraine leave every week, so the starting point is the date your supplier is ready to release the goods.
Groupage or a dedicated truck
Groupage makes sense from one euro pallet 120×80 weighing 100 kg and up to a few pallets. You pay only for your own volume, and the rest of the truck is taken by other senders. The rate for a single pallet starts at €500 and transit runs from 4–5 days.
A dedicated truck pays off when the consignment approaches a full 22-tonne tilt, or when the date is critical. There is no part-loading and no intermediate stops, so the cargo moves from 2–3 days, and a full truck starts at €2,200. If the delivery date is firm, it is worth pricing both options at once — the difference is often smaller than the cost of a delay on your side.
What drives the price
On groupage the rate is calculated on the greater of two figures: actual weight or volume. A light but bulky shipment — furniture, clothing in cartons — will therefore cost more than its paper weight suggests. Before quoting we ask for dimensions as packed: a pallet, crating and stretch film add centimetres that can push a consignment into the next rate band.
The loading region matters too. We load most often in Verona, Milan, Turin, Venice, the Florence area and Naples — Italy’s main industrial and logistics zones. Loading in the south is usually slower and more expensive than in the north, because the truck has to be positioned further from the main corridor.
Documents and customs
ETS is a freight forwarder, not a customs broker. We are responsible for the transport, for positioning the vehicle and for the transport documents, while customs clearance is handled by a broker. If you do not have your own broker, we will recommend partners we work with regularly. Splitting responsibilities this way is more transparent: you can see who is accountable for what, and exactly where a delay arises if one does.
Exports from Ukraine to Italy
The reverse direction runs in the same formats: dedicated trucks and groupage on tilts, vans and reefers. We carry general, temperature-controlled and dangerous goods. We do not currently take oversized shipments on the Italian route — if that is what you have, say so straight away rather than spending time on a quote we cannot fulfil.
Documents and customs
ETS is responsible for the transport and the transport documents. Customs clearance is carried out by a broker — we are not a customs broker ourselves, but we work with trusted partners and can recommend them if you do not have your own.
What the client prepares
- Foreign trade contract with the supplier
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Certificate of origin, where preferential treatment is claimed
- Permits and certificates, if the goods require them
What ETS takes on
- Agreeing the shipment with the supplier and positioning the truck
- Transport documents for the route (CMR)
- Supervision of loading, securing and marking
- Monitoring the cargo along the whole Italy — Ukraine route
- Recommending a partner broker for customs clearance
Route specifics
We keep no consolidation warehouse in Italy
We collect the cargo directly at the sender’s warehouse. For you that means the consignment does not wait at a third-party terminal to accumulate: trucks to Ukraine leave every week, and the starting point is your supplier’s readiness rather than an outside warehouse schedule.
We do not currently carry oversized cargo on this route
General, temperature-controlled and dangerous goods — yes. Oversized shipments between Italy and Ukraine are not something we handle at the moment. If that is your cargo, tell us straight away and we will point you in the right direction instead of spending time on a quote.
The minimum consignment is one euro pallet
From 120×80 and 100 kg. Smaller shipments do not add up economically: the rate for a single pallet starts at €500, which makes little sense for a parcel of a few kilograms. If your cargo is smaller, it is worth consolidating it with other items from the same supplier.
Volume matters more than weight
On groupage the rate is based on the greater of the two figures. Furniture and clothing in cartons are almost always charged by volume rather than weight. That is why we ask for dimensions as packed — with the pallet, crating and film included.

Case studies
Bakery equipment from Veneto
Equipment from Thiene in the Veneto region. We selected a small dedicated truck to match the dimensions, the cargo covered the route in two days, and partners handled customs clearance. A small consignment for which groupage would have meant a longer wait than the journey itself.

Palletised clothing from Naples
A groupage shipment of clothing from southern Italy to Kyiv, routed through the Hungarian border. A typical case for this route: a few pallets that do not justify a dedicated truck.

Metal cabinets for export
An export shipment of metal cabinets from Kyiv on a dedicated truck with two unloading points in Italy. An example of the reverse direction: we ship from Ukraine to Italy in the same formats as on imports.
